Let's assume that you are connected on a corporate network.Now,you might have to share files on the network with several but not all users.Thus it would be advisable to hide the folder that you wish to share on the network.
right click on an appropriate folder and select 'properties' from the context menu
click the 'sharing tab'
Click 'advanced Sharing'
In the 'share name' text box simply append the 'S' sign to the folder name
Once done,click OK.
